I am what happens when geek meets artist. When I can travel and take photos and work with creative people on interesting projects, I’m happiest.

How’d it start? In 19 something something, my Dad gave me a Minolta 35mm SLR. It was steel and heavy gauge plastic. Serious glass lenses. I remember a short zoom and a 50mm. It had a hippy-ish looking shoulder strap that probably came from Berkeley (where I started out).

I took the camera. Spent time with it. We sorta hung out for a while. I don’t think there was even any film in the thing initially. I looked through the viewfinder, moved the focus, framed various scenes, heard the clunk of that hefty shutter and I was hooked.

Dad was also into computers. I went to computer camp and learned BASIC, then Dad got the early Mac’s from his identical twin who worked at Apple. A while later, I taught myself HTML. All of this has served me well.

I went to Brooks Institute of Photography and worked as a pro for a while. I got a Masters in business from the Drucker School of Management. When I shifted into the business world, I set the camera(s) down. I launched The Free Range Group, LLC to keep it legal.
